Harmonisation of environmental radiation monitoring: the approach of EURADOS
نویسندگان
چکیده
European co-operation on the measurement of environmental external dose rates has been remarkable in the last twenty years. The experience gained under different European Commission Contracts in the monitoring of the external environmental radiation (gamma and cosmic) has permitted to establish common procedures and get a good degree of harmonization within the participants. In 1994, an EURADOS Working Group (WG) was established with the aim to collect and publish the experience and recommendations on the measurement of external environmental gamma radiation doses. In 1999, the EURADOS WG on Monitoring of External Exposures organised a new intercomparison exercice focused on the instruments that were being employed by different countries in large national networks of radiation detectors (dose rate probes) in order to give early warning of accidents having transboundary implications. The relevance of some conclusions from this exercice motivated the continuity of this WG in the next term (2001-2003) as the WG3 ‘Environmental Radiation Monitoring’. A second intercomparison of dose rate instruments used in the national networks was organized in 2002, for which new facilities and measurements sites were arranged at the PTB Braunschweig. As a novelty, expert teams on the in-situ gamma spectrometry technique also participated in the last exercise.

Harmonisation of individual monitoring in Europe.
To facilitate the free travel within the European Union of workers that are occupationally exposed to radiation, the European Commission issued the ‘Council Directive 96/29 Euratom of 13 May 1996’; this Directive has been implemented in the national legislation of the EU Member-States. The European Radiation Dosimetry Group, EURADOS, established a working group that consists of experts from EU ...

The TECHREC project, funded by the European Commission, will provide Technical Recommendations for Monitoring Individuals for Occupational Intakes of Radionuclides It is expected that the document will be published by the European Commission as a report in its Radiation Protection Series during 2016. The project is coordinated by the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) and is being car...

In the context of the decrease in the eye lens dose limit for occupational exposure to 20 mSv per year stated by the recent revision of the European Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013/59/EURATOM, the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) has organised in 2014, for the first time, an intercomparison exercise for eye lens dosemeters. The main objective was to assess the capabilities of ...
متن کاملEurados-ideas Guidelines (version 2) for the Estimation of Committed Doses from Incorporation Monitoring Data.
Dose assessment after intakes of radionuclides requires application of biokinetic and dosimetric models and assumptions about factors influencing the final result. In 2006, a document giving guidance for such assessment was published, commonly referred to as the IDEAS Guidelines. Following its publication, a working group within the European networks CONRAD and EURADOS was established to improv...
